Hey everybody!
Fr Joe Robinson here! Fr Workman has graciously let me write in the bulletin while he is away! First, I don’t have the words, and I am not sure if I ever will, but Thank you! Thank you for your prayerful support while I was taking a much needed, in many ways, break. In my time, I certainly could feel the prayerful support and am truly humbled by the way the Hand of God has worked in my life and grateful for this loving parish.
I experienced some real darkness, doubts, and all out lies from the enemy, but into that darkness our good Bishop picked up one of his sons and offered a chance. A chance to participate with the graces of Christ and to really explore who I am and to what purpose I have been created. Thankful, grateful, or astounded really doesn’t cover it! But that is our Christian life, to be continuously and wonderfully confounded at how Christ brings healing when we surrender.
Saint Paul talks about that very same wonderfully confounding joy it is to follow Christ and His body, the Church. He opens our second reading from the Philippians by telling us how Christ is magnified in him as he lays down his own desires and wants. The closing of the reading tells us then how to go about surrendering and magnifying the Lord with our lives, ‘conduct yourselves in a way worthy of the Gospel of Christ!’ My brothers and sisters, the simple message of Saint Paul is that in public or private, in sorrow or joy, in fortune or loss, let us live in the imitation of Christ, not of the world. God sees something in you, he saw something worth saving in me. Let’s find out together the great treasure and worth He sees within!
