Requirements for Employees and Volunteers

If you plan to be a Parish or School employee or volunteer who has contact with or access to children, you are required to complete the 5 Step VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children Program PRIOR to beginning employment or volunteering.

The Diocese of Cleveland’s December 2016 Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters Regarding Sexual Abuse requires that every Parish (Church or School) employee and every Parish volunteer 18 and older who has contact with or access to children is required to do the following:

Click on the "FIRST TIME REGISTRANT" link
Create an account. (You will need this information in the future to print off your certificates and complete the monthly bulletins. Usually, they take less than 5 minutes to complete.) Choose the Diocese of Cleveland when asked about your diocese.
If you aren't already signed in, please do so now
On the list on the left side under Training, click on "Live Trainings"
On the Left under "Live Training/Initial Training", click on "Preregister for a Live Training in your Area"
Scroll down to August 12th and choose Sacred Heart of Jesus (Wadsworth) you will see Oaks of Righteousness listed as trainees.
Once you are registered, you can go ahead and sign up for your background check. This may not be available to you until after you take the class. I am not sure.
Click on the "Toolbox" tab at the top of the page.
Click on the "Selection.com Background check and follow the instructions. It will be a 1 time $25 fee that you will not have to renew every 5 years.

That's it!! If you can not come to the one on the 12th, feel free to choose any of the other trainings on the list. You will just need to copy your certificate and send it to the Oaks email once you complete your training.
