My Friends,
On Monday, we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Once again, our liturgy recalls not a life of a faithful disciple, but of a core foundational truth of our Christian faith. This feast expresses the deepest desire of God’s love for each human soul. Through an instrument of darkness and death comes salvation and hope; a sharing in the eternal banquet of heaven. Many of us have crosses or crucifixes in our homes, workplaces, cars, and even around our necks. Take some time this Monday to look at them, dust them, polish them, and venerate them as a simple sign of gratitude for the sacrifice that gave our life so much hope.
After reviewing and consulting about our parish office spaces, we have made some improvements to the work areas. No major projects, but rather just some movement of furniture and some fresh coats of paint. I believe that a little “freshening up” time and again, brings a new energy and a fruitfulness that will continue the excellent work that is active in our parish.
Due to the bi-annual diocesan priest convocation at Sawmill Creek, there are no masses scheduled October 6-9. (There will be Mass Tuesday morning October 6th at Sacred Heart, but no evening Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul.) There will be Mass offered by retired or religious priests at neighboring parishes (see future bulletins). Currently, there are over 160 priests from our diocese attending this convocation. This is a wonderful time for the bishops and priests to rest, reflect, and have fraternity. Please keep all of us in your prayers.
