Peter Maurin Food Ministry

Apr 12, 2022

The Peter Maurin Center (PMC) is an Outreach Ministry serving the Greater Summit Lake Region of Akron. We first opened in 2006 and are located at 1090 and 1096 South Main Street operating as a day drop in Community Center and Dining Hall. PMC is a place where all of God’s children are welcomed and can find food, friendship, and much needed encouragement. We offer 3 hot full meals weekly, clothing, fresh on premise garden, used bicycles/repairs, bus passes, and medical screening.

Members of this ministry prepare and deliver weekly meals to the Peter Maurin Center in Akron for 50-60 people, serving the food and cleanup is possible.

Building a Convent and School in Tanzania – Fundraiser

Watch video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO-4GBMfs7A

We’re raising funds to help finish building a convent and secondary school in the Diocese of Moshi, Tanzania. These buildings will serve young students in grades 6–11 and be home to 7 religious sisters who will live, teach, and serve the community. Mass will be celebrated daily on site, and the school will be named St. William Secondary School, with the convent bearing the name Sacred Heart of Jesus Convent – a sign of our shared mission.

The goal is to raise: – $64,366 to complete the school – $45,779 to complete the convent and chapel Every dollar goes directly to the project. This is a chance for our parish to walk with the Church in Tanzania and support a community where vocations are flourishing and faith is shaping the future.
