Fr. Workman’s Letter

Oct 1, 2026

Good Friends, This week we have so many opportunities, liturgically, to reflect on the lives of many saints of various times, places, and walks of life. However, I would like to draw your attention to October 8th. You will notice that there is no assigned saint liturgically for this day. We use the term “weekday in Ordinary Time. ” I believe, liturgically, the wisdom of the church invites the believers to remember that we too are called to be saints. Our active faith in the everyday life of our time, place, and walks of life can be instrumental in the salvation of souls. Living out our faith with conviction, trust, and perseverance, we also reflect the presence of Christ. As the church declares certain individuals for public admiration, we should never discount our own calling to inspire in others the same divine presence. With gratitude and deep appreciation, I thank all those who made the installation Masses a spiritual and formative celebration in the life of the parish communities of Sacred Heart and Ss. Peter and Paul. I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and when the bishop said, “here he is, ” it was such a relief that you applauded. I am grateful to have these wonderful parishes in my life. I think by now most of you have noticed the resealing and lining of the parking lots. This project came very quickly, and I appreciate the patience of so many, especially our adoration adorers. There have been several recent maintenance projects that (due to time constraints) need to be addressed quickly. Your generosity to the capital maintenance fund helps us have this ability. Thank you for your support in the upkeep of the Sacred Heart campus. As cooler weather arrives, I would like to remind everyone that the church is not heated like a home. I will monitor the temperature closely to keep the building “reasonably” comfortable while avoiding unnecessarily high heating costs, especially since it is used primarily on weekends. As outdoor temperatures change, I will learn how the building responds and adjust the heat accordingly. I realize there will be many opinions on this matter and ask for your patience and personal preparedness during this period. May you have peace in the week ahead. Fr. Workman
