Good day Dear Friends,
As I begin to write these bulletin letters, I would like to organize them with three elements. A spiritual reflection, current happenings, and upcoming events. This, I pray will give parishioners and our guests something to reflect on for the week ahead and be kept informed of parish activities.
For the remainder of the season of Ordinary Time, I would like to call attention to the lives of the Saints that the Church is celebrating in the coming week. This week is a full week. Every day we recognize a man or woman that has inspired generations of believers and non-believers alike. It is unusual, liturgically, to have such a stretch of days where we lift up so many saints for us to engage and celebrate. Although the ranking of them might be different on who we are obligated to celebrate and which are optional, I tend to rely on the wisdom of celebrating them even if they are optional memorials or less known saints. The lectionary also provides readings that are proper for a particular saint(s). In using those readings, which you may not have in a missal or other Mass guides, I hope to evoke a spiritual connection between the readings chosen for a saint and our daily lives. I love our saints and their powerful witnesses and prayers.
Over the last few weeks, I have made great progress with settling into two rectories, meeting with the staffs, councils, and familiarizing myself with the two communities. Working with the offices’ staffs we are setting up effective ways of communication. I apologize for any delays in returning phone calls, emails, or scheduling meetings. These next months will be full but with gentleness, I’m sure we will be able to accomplish the mission of the Church.
On July 26th, at 2 p.m. I will be having Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church to celebrate her feast day and the patronal feast of the parish community. This will be the only Mass that I will be scheduling. All are invited to attend.
Lastly, please pray for our staff as we continue to adjust.
