Our Parish Golf Outing on September 9 was a great success in everyway.  It was a perfect day for golfing with plenty of sunshine, warm temperature, and lots of people to play golf.  We had around 100 golfers and they all had a very good time enjoying the day with one another’s company.  The outing was held at Pine Valley Golf Course on Reimer Road, which is owned and operated by Mike and Lisa Reynolds, members of our parish.

I am very grateful to all who made this event possible and such a wonderful success.  Members of the Parish Council worked together with the Knights of Columbus and other parish volunteers.  Many people donated prizes and sponsored holes for the benefit of our parish community.  I am very grateful for the hard work done by everyone so that we could raise some more much needed funds for the renovation of the lower level of the church.  Thank you again to everyone and God bless you for your commitment to our parish family.  I believe we raised about $10,000.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  On October 18, 19, and 20, we will hold our annual Solemn Eucharistic Devotions which will begin on Friday, October 18, with a special school Mass at 9:30 AM. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will continue on the main altar throughout the weekend, and we will have our Solemn Closing with Mass and a procession with the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday, October 20, beginning at 5 PM.  Our guest homilist for the closing Mass will be Fr. Michael Garvin, Parochial Vicar at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Parma.  Fr. Garvin was ordained to the priesthood this past May.

Those preparing to receive their First Holy Communion and Confirmation will also join in our procession to honor the Eucharistic presence of our Lord. Please make every effort to be a part of this special weekend of praise and prayer as we give thanks to God for the gift of Himself in the Holy Eucharist.

ANGEL SCHOLARSHIP FUND:  Two years ago, we introduced the Angel Scholarship Fund which helps schools throughout the diocese offer tuition assistance to parents.  Thanks to the State of Ohio and its support of parents choosing the education they want for their children, we are able to use our Ohio State income tax dollars to help with tuition costs.  When you donate to the parish school of your choice, you will receive a full tax credit through your state income tax.  If you normally owe taxes, that amount is reduced and if you normally receive a refund, your donation will be added to that refund.  You cannot lose.  You may divert up to $750 of your state tax dollars per individual or $1,500 per couple.  Last year Sacred Heart received over $100,000.  We did this with only 100 or so participants.  Imagine what we could do with three or four hundred people participating.  You will find all the information you need on the parish web site.  The little bit of time that it takes to fill out the form will be of great help to our parish, our school, and especially to our school families.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!  Do not forget the ANGEL SCHOLARSHIP drive.  Be an angel for others, especially our children.

THE HOUSE OF GOD:  Did you know?  Our church is thoroughly cleaned and made to look beautiful each week by volunteers from our parish community.  These good people do an amazing job of cleaning and preparing this sacred place for our worship each week.  The cleaning is done by four groups of volunteers that each take one week of the month to clean.  This is a beautiful way to give back to God for all that He does for us.  I am very grateful to all who volunteer to clean the church each week.  We are always in need of more volunteers for this important and holy work.  So if you would like to volunteer, please call the Parish Office.  The cleaning is usually done on Friday mornings after the 8 AM Mass.  Give it some prayer and thought to see if you would like to be one of “God’s house cleaners.”

Our Altar & Rosary Society will be selling raffle tickets at the East, Broad and Sacristy  doors before and after all Masses this weekend.  Please support the good work of the Altar  & Rosary Society by buying a ticket, they do many good works for our parish community, so they are very much deserving of our goodwill and support.  May God bless these ladies for all they do for us!  Get your ticket before they all sell out.
